Society’s need to completely use all its human resources and capacities which are aimed at economic, social, cultural and political development is expressed through gender equality.
Gender equality means equal representation, power and participation of both genders in all spheres of public and private life, and contribute to the harmony between genders.
AFITU Women’s Forum was established in the beginning of the year 2000 with the aim to encourage women in their struggle for workers’, women’s, political and, above all, human rights.
The Women’s Forum fights against poverty among women, exploitation, discrimination and violence towards women.
Some of the main goals of the Women’s Forum are the right to equal work evaluation, without gender discrimination (i.e. equal pay for equal work) and greater women participation in management and decision-making.
AFITU Women’s Forum is a member of the Federation of non-government organizations of Serbia.

Basic activities of the Women’s Forum:

  • Organizing educational meetings, workshops and debates on women’s rights and problems they are facing
  • Cooperation with the media in order to inform the public of women’s problems
  • Timely and adequate reaction to all cases of women’s rights violations
  • Establishing cooperation with women’s groups and NGO’s from the country and abroad
  • Democratic struggle for greater participation of women in governance and trade unions
  • Training of women for trade union work
  • Participation in AFITU’s actions concerning women’s position at work, in the family and in society
