Ranka Savic          Ranka Savic was born in Visoko, Bosnia and Herzegovina. She graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade. After graduation, she was working in “Veselin Maslesa” and “Invescomerc” companies as a legal affairs officer. After that, she continued career in a private company.
In the time of the struggle for a democratic Serbia she came in conflict with the regime of Slobodan Milosevic.

        By the year of  1999. she began to work in Association of free and independent trade unions (AFITU) After tree years, she was elected for the president of the AFITU at the second Congress held on October 5th, 2002. Once again, delegates gave her trust at the third Congress which took place on October 6th, 2006.

        Ranka Savic is the first woman at the head of a union organization in Serbia and one of the very few in Europe, as well.
        She was the first labour delegate at the ILO Assembly held in year 2000.
        She was one of the initiators of founding Social-Economic Council, and its member from 2000. to 2003.

        Within the project of  European  Movement in Serbia and OEBS called “Women’s Government” she was elected for the Minister of labour, employment and social policy.
As a proven fighter for workers’ rights and because of organizing workers’ protests  she often came in conflict with Serbian Government.

         Through her work, she has proven that women can do “men’s work” successfully, and encouraged women throughout Serbia.
